Stephen the Great

Stephen the Great is one of the national Romanian heroes, ruling Moldova for more than 47 years and carrying more than 36 wars with the army of Ottoman Empire during their invasion into the Romanian principalities.
After the end of the wars era, he was the Voivode who built in the Moldavia numerous churches and monasteries, which nowadays can be admired due to great work for preserving them.
A lot more history about this great Romanian ruler can be found right on spot, within the city of Iasi, where are the most monuments and places designed for his remembrance.
We recommend visiting the city of Iasi within the larger tour of Painted Monasteries, which will reveal the greatness of Stephen the Great.
